You’re about to deadlift a new weight – a personal best –  and your hearts beating faster. Doubt is creeping in and you’re not sure anymore. in fact, you’re nervous. No, you’re not nervous, you tell yourself. I’m excited.

I heard Simon Sinek recently describe this. Flip the narrative in your head from nervous to excited. When giving a speech or presentation to a large group, when lifting new weights or running new distances. Instead of thinking how nervous you feel, remind yourself how exciting it is!
