What to expect on the first day
This gym probably isn’t what you’re expecting.
When you peer inside you won’t see treadmills or machines. You won’t see bootcamp classes or people doing yoga. Our gym was built with the mission of getting people stronger. Through basic barbell strength training, you’ll learn for yourself what your body and mind are capable of.
Your first day of training starts with the fundamentals. For some, this means learning how to sit down and stand up, pick things up off the floor, and push them overhead. For others, we’ll introduce you to the barbell lifts. You’ll start with an appropriate weight and learn to squat, press, and deadlift. Regardless of ability, we’ll meet you where you’re at. Our concern isn’t just putting you through a workout. We’ll teach you how to train. We want to show you why, how, and what we do in order to make you more competent and confident. During your first day, you’ll learn how to walk into the gym, set up the equipment, plan your workout, and execute.
After the first session, you probably won’t feel like you worked out. You probably won’t be huffing and puffing. You probably won’t be sweating, and your muscles may not feel like they did anything. But, inevitably, the next 2 days you’ll probably be a little bit sore. Not much, but enough to remind you that the process has begun. You’re starting to get stronger. Each workout after that builds on the previous. We slowly and progressively make the training a little more challenging. You’ll begin to build muscle, strengthen bone, improve your health, and invest in your physical 401k. Your mind will look at everyday chores differently. Hobbies and activities become easier. Life gets easier.
