How Hungry Am I?

How Hungry Am I?

It’s a simple question but how often have you found yourself during the day eating purely because it was a certain time? We automatically assume that breakfast, lunch, and dinner occur at basically the same time each day, regardless of hunger.

When you’re starting to feel hungry, is it because of actual, physical, hunger? Or are you bored, stressed, anxious, depressed, or lonely? Are you hungry because the clock says 12pm?

If you’ve ever tried to lose weight you know how big of an issue hunger is. Finding ways to reduce the calories in your day is very tough, and hunger is a big reason why.

The next time you’re hungry, try and really think about it. Rate it on a scale of 1-10. If you drank a tall glass of water or went for a walk would you feel better? If you went and visited a co-worker and talked for 5-10 minutes would that make your hunger subside? Often times our hunger is less physical and more mental. Paying attention to your habits for a few days can tell you alot about why you eat.

**If you are actually hungry, try this instead of reaching for the cookie or candy bar:

  1. Vegetables (carrots, broccoli, peppers)
  2. Water
  3. Protein
