The 5 “Why’s.” I don’t know where I first heard this (I think it was Precision Nutrition), but the concept always stuck.The drill is simple: ask yourself “Why?” each time you think you have some idea of the purpose behind what you’re doing. “I want to lose 10lbs.” Why? “So I can be healthier.” Why? “Because my blood pressure is high and putting me at risk.” Why? “Because I have grandkids I want to see grow up and play with.” You may get the answer sooner, but usually asking “Why?” 5 times gets to the root of the issue. Try it out. Put your “Why” somewhere visible. Remind yourself truly what is driving you towards the behavior change.
